Junior Road Safety Officers

What are the Junior Road Safety Officers?
The scheme aims to give pupils the opportunity to become actively involved in road safety.
Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO's) will provide a variety of road information to pupils and the school community by holding assemblies, mini publicity campaigns or running competitions and events etc..
There are a number of topics to choose from with the idea being that the topics be chosen with local issues in mind. For example a town centre school may have concerns over parking or pedestrian safety, whereas a rural school may choose topics such as Be Safe Be Seen. It is entirely up to the school.
Pupils are invited to apply for the position as a JRSO by completing an application form. the nominated teacher/helper should aim to choose one pupil from Year 5 and another one from Year 6.. However, this is flexible and schools are free to choose pupils to suite their needs.
The Year 5 pupil(s) will keep their position for 2 years. In Year 6 they will train the new Year 5pupil(s).
